A lunging girth or longing roller is a band with rings and a girth and is used as an aid for lunging your horse or pony. Lunging is letting the horse or pony work in all gaits on a circle. During lunging, the young horse's condition will improve and for the preparation for the saddle and riding of the young horse. Your horse learns to bend on both sides without the weight of the rider. It is also a variety of driving.
A lunging girth is used when lunging with double lines or to attach auxiliary reins. The large rings on the band ensure that you can let the horse walk with different neck positions. It is certainly not intended to lock your horse in a specific position.
The lunging girths are available in different models. Some lunging girths are provided with thick cushions, fur, synthetic fur, and fleece. For extra comfort for your horse, you can put a lunge cover under the girth. These lunging decks are narrow and long decks made of cotton, fur, or memory foam.
At Art of Riding there is a wide choice of tools for lunging, but also bitless bridles and cavesson to lunge your horse.
