The training rope is used during free work and groundwork with your horse or pony. The training rope is a braided rope with a clip on one side and a long thin popper on the other side.
The training rope is attached to the rope halter with the clip or held in the leading hand, the hand closest to the horse's head. The popper of the training rope is held in the driving hand to guide your horse forward or sideways. This driving aid is a rotating movement in which the rope is rotated towards the horse. The training rope serves as extra help for your aids and is not to hit your horse.
The training rope is available in different lengths and thicknesses. When you first start with freework or groundwork, a short and thin training rope is recommended. The longer and thicker the rope, the heavier the weight. The training rope for the more experienced trainers has a leather finish and serves as a refinement to your driving aids.
